No dash lights
« on: May 05, 2011, 01:49:57 AM »
I could use a little help. I have a 2002 vitara, 2 liter, auto, 4x4, 4 door. I have no dash lights. The radio was ripped off from the PO. I put a factory (junk yard) in it and it works OK. But when it's dark out the display goes out. I know I have a ambient light sensor, so maybe all I need to do is figure out how to get the dash lights to work... I'm thinking that I should start at the Dash light dimmer reostat. If I have no luck there I'll look at that ambient light sensor. Has any one had similar problems? I would also like to disable the DRL feature. Any advice???

Are you saying you have no dash lights, period? Not even on your gauge cluster? Or are you talking about just the stereo?

If you don't have any dash lights at all, did that happen when you pulled the plug for the DRL in the other post?

First things first, make sure your taillights work / TL fuse not blown.
