have you check out this product from

http://www.trailtough.com/default.htm

The "Rock Block" is a simple, compact gear reduction unit for the gearing needs of today's extreme off-road enthusiast. This unit is a serious MUST-HAVE for the rock crawler! It has not only a 1:816 ratio but a straight through 1:1 as well. In combination with your Samurai transfer case, it can be used for an instant 2-low AND can almost double your transfer cases current low range gearing! Your Samurai will now have 4 selectable gear ranges! This unit is very simple to install - takes approximately 20 minutes. It simply replaces the intermediate drive shaft. It comes with a new removable cross member which includes a full-circle unbreakable rear transmission mount and block mount.

Item #ROC-400 Price 1350.00
Core charge $100.00 (intermediate drive shaft core required)

Gang,
After having 2 whole days to play with the OTT Kicker 3 installed with the Calmini 4.24 gears...  I can honestly say that having ultra low gears is very cool.

(why didn't somebody convince me to do this earlier is beyond me).

So besides the fact that there are several options for us Suzuki folks, if anybody has a chance to install lower gears of any kind, DO IT!

Try using the SOS Ringer with the kick trans and kicker3 and the sammy case, the drivetrain length will remain unchanged but unlimited benefits and mechanical advantages. Such as.... larger clutch and flywheel, stronger transmission with a lower (3.8:1 vs 3.5:1) first gear, no intermediate shaft (less u-joints), 3 sets of low range!
And the possibility of putting the 1.6 into your sammy without having to buy the bellhousing adaptor for installation.....another big plus!

Due to the 3rd generation's electronic speedometer, it would be difficult to use anything other than the stock t-case. I've just purchased a Toyota case real cheap. I'd like to place this between the auto tranny (4-sp) of the X and the stock t-case to get my low gearing down.

I've got more research to do, but if the X's speedo is programmable, I should be able to 'correct' it for which size tires I'm running.

Noone to my knowledge, makes any kind of adaptor to put the toy in front of the XL-7 or GV t-case.
How does the electronic speed sensor hook to the t-case? Is your case where the sensor is similar to the kick case? if so, use the kicker setup and be happy!

Just put the RingR in with Toy trans and case and be done with it. here is a pic of the 16v mated via RingR to a toy trans and case with a doubler toy case behind it.
If you dont have a 16v and only a 1.3 that can be  done also via LUCKY13 to mate the 1.3 to the kick bell

"RingR"   ??? ??? "Lucky13"  ???  ???
Who do I contact? What does it cost? How hard is it to install (for the mere mortals)? With your fabrication skills, did you need to replace the crossmembers or driveshaft lengths?
Thanks for the help.

Why not just get a Trail Tough Rock Block. It will double your crawl ratioo and it is a direct bolt it in place of your intermediate driveshaft. Check it out  ;) Price is 1350. WAY cheaper than a Klune. I have driven a sammi with a 6:1 t-case, 5.12 r&p, and a Rock block. I am still amazed at how low that thing was!!!  :o

Nate,
I have just realized that the Sammy T-case offers the perfect Hi-range gear correction for my 34x10.50-15 Swamper LTB's on my 1994 4-dr.  I see that you are running this with the OTT Kicker 3  on your truck (But with 4.24:1's.).   How do you correct for the off set rear drive shaft.   ANy tricks, or just run a CV shaft and cross your fingers?

Using GV auto tranny Specs: (I couldn't find the kick ones)

2793.4 RPM |removethispart|@ 60mph with 27 in 4th (Auto,  in OD)
2742.6 rpm |removethispart|@ 60 mph with 34 in OD with sammy T-case

3826.6 RPM |removethispart|@ 60mph with 27 in 3rd (Auto, Not in OD)
3130.9 RPM |removethispart|@ 60mph with 34 in 3rd (Auto, Not in OD)
