Does anyone know if there are any special procedures before removing the ECM (from sidekick)?

I tried removing the ECM but theres screws everywhere and the ones i tried removing were being eaten by the screwdriver..........how many should be removed?

I heard from several people that the ecm can be removed from the compartment right under the stearing wheel, but i clearly see the ecm in the compartment to the left of 'that' compartment and behind the small horn (yellow circle in pic)........?!?

ya thats where it's at, there is also a couple of small black relays hooked to it, those screws are tight, real tight,Ihad to use a tee handle type phillips on mine,if there is a medium size black box there leave it alone, the one you want is tin looking.

but when you say those are it ........do you mean the screws that i cirlced in 'green'.....or the ones behind the speaker in the compartment........thanks.

you can pull the speaker out to see it a little better, but the screws you want are probably going to be reached from underneath by the pedles, I stripped one of them and had to take the whole bracket of holding the relays and everything, hope that helps. get a philips bit that fits the screws real good and put it on a rachect with an extension and push on it all your worth while trying to turn it.

When I swap them out, I pull the speaker to give easy access. I only undo the speaker screws and the ECM screws, never needed to undo anything else. Only takes a couple of minutes.

You got to stick your head down next to the
clutch pedal and look up, it's up there, the speaker
will make seeing it easier, but i don't think you
can see the screws better than from under the dash

dust and water off I guess, my plastic broke, it's
like a piece of blister pack plastic, not thick at all

Looks like a PITA, it's not that bad
