2.0 no spark cyl #2
« on: July 02, 2006, 10:51:34 PM »
I cant figure out why I have no spark on my 99 tracker. I swapped coil packs and cam sensor  but still no spark. Has anybody else ever heard of this?

2 coil packs or 4 coil packs?

Try the connector, test for connection

You could try to fire the coil from,   ohh never mind
that only would work if it were wasted spark system

That would use 2 coils, and they would each feed 2
spark plugs, they fire on the compression and exhaust
cycles, but this system isn't going to work like that.,

My best guess would be a broken wire to that coil, unless
you swapped a bad coil into the same position ..... somehow

Bummer, can you get a distributor on that engine at all ?

Hey Mike

Went through a similar problem recently on a 16v/sohc/1300 that was equipped with direct fire. I believe the systems are similar.

Chased everything only to find out the plug on the computer hand pulled back a smidge (1/16th of an inch) caused a dead #2 cylinder.

Pushed it back in...everything works fine, now it has a tie strap keeping it in.

Worth a shot...

Im pretty sure its the computer. I followed the wiring harness and the ecm controls the spark. I pulled the ECM and sent it with my sister to try it in her freinds vitara. It is also a 99 2.0 auto. It also missed on the #2 cyl so Im pretty sure that that was it. Im going to order one tomorow.
