I have a X90 with a 3" body lift....plus. I got some thin sheet metal & cut out a plate to seal the exposed area where the strut was lowered. I then hammered the area flat & drilled two holes & used one of the stock holes that was there. The three bolts (total) work well & look clean to hold down the sheet metal sealing the area.. If & when you get rid of the stock air box & install a custom (K&N type) air filter the hole you talk of is a bigger problem. If you want I'll send a pic. of what it looks like under my hood.
