THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT! I've been telling people that SUVs and PickupTrucks can go as dark as you want on any window/windows behind the driver/front passenger windows. This just proves I was right, thanks. ;)

Yea, thats true in Texas also.

Lil Red,
What did use to tint your windows on the soft top?
As far as aftermarket lights here in PA if there covered, and all these lights come w/covers either hard or soft, when driving or going thru inspection it's not a problem.

Hey Lilred, look familier!?....  Did it have the 1.6 in it? Because I know the "99s were available with either the 1.6 or 2.0.

What did you use on your windows? (There's a local shop that sells the plastic window coverings, but I had a time getting bubbles out of them w/o scratching the material with a squeegy.)

Those are 17" wheels, correct? Is the car lowered? (You don't see many 'Kicks with mags.)

BTW, how do you insert pictures?

Ã‚ I used cling window tint bought at Wal-Mart.  It took a roll and a half to do the back and two side windows.  I laid them out on the kitchen island and cut the tint to size with a razor blade.  Then I wetted the window down with a little water and dish detergent, laid on the tint and used the only "squeege" I had handy, a credit card.  The side windows are super easy to cut because the outside vinyl overlaps the plastic around a 1/4" so you don't have to trim very straight!  Mine has been on for a little over a month and it's held up great.  I've taken the windows in and out and driven with the back window hanging down on the inside.  Still looks good.  And I think I can peel it off this winter if I want and reapply the same tint again in the spring.
97Trakin' - Looks great!  Wish mine was that new, but I have a 95' and '92.  Gonna try tinting the '92 when I get a new top for it.

Here (GA), you can go as dark as you want on the rear windows, but the driver and passenger doors can't be any darker than 35%.  In my Sidekick, I have 35% on the front 2 doors and 5% everywhere else.

Thanks.

That's the 3rd 'Zuki I've seen with mags. (Mine came that way from the dealer. He used it as a demo model with, I assume, a killer stereo system installed.)

I still haven't figured out inserting a pix... let's see how this does.

Here in Canada, unless it's stock tint, it has to come off. A lot of cops I talk to say that they mostly tear off the tint that they can't see the driver through. A theory that most of the tint shops around where I live have is that if your driver and passenger windows are lighter than your rear windows, cops don't mind. So I asked some of my 'friends' down at the cop shopwhat they thought of that and they all generally confirmed it. There is one exception though, if they do an actual tint road stop, they take all your tint. So I went back to the tint places and asked each one (by the way, I did this 4 weeks ago to see how much tint was going to cost me (400 for all  >:(  ) how many  times there were stops or if any one came in to re-do the tinting, and all of them said twice in 3 years. Maybe their lying, but... if I was to get tint, I think I'd go with a nice 35% in the back with maybe something a little lighter in the front. Plus that heavy black tint for the rear is 'tarded man, unless you're doing something you don't want people to see  ;) that stuff is just plain not good! I've backed up practically blind with that kind of tint.

lol if u read the letter of the law in cali any modifications to the STOCK form of a vehicle is illegal...u can be prosecuted for wreckless endagerment...yadda...yadda lol cali sucks :P

Not true. There is a ton of stuff you can change on your stock vehicle and still have it legal. You can change your exhaust any way you want so long as it still passes smog and does not exceed the db limit for that year car.

Neon lights -are- legal in California (see VC 25400)

These gung-ho cops are screwing things up and think they're so much better than everyone when they don't know the laws for sh!t.

All Ca. Laws and codes
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/calaw.html

California State Vehicle Code
http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/calawquery?codesection=veh&codebody=&hits=20
Check it out, go down to Division 12. There you find everything you need to know.

What you need to do is find the VC that appiles to what you want to change, make the change and then carry a copy of that code with you to show the a-hole cop when he pulls you over.

Here are 2 pics of my car. I've had it since Jan 4, 2004 and still have not put the license plates on, nor do I intend to. I also drive at night, every night, with my undercar neons on. I have yet to be pulled over. I'm thinking the cops either figured out they're legal or they have no clue what they would use for a VC when they attempt to cite me.
