what wheels are you guys running?
« on: January 04, 2006, 10:48:41 PM »
hi all, i'm about to get some new wheels for my vit. the ones i have now are not straight, and will leak air at anything under 18psi. so they dont do me any good anymore.

so questions are, what type of wheels are you guys running?

what size are they? 15x8 or 15x10 etc?

what tyres are you running on them?

what is the backspacing (or offset) on the wheels?

what do you think of them?

and if you could change wheels, what would they be? ie, wider, narrower, more or less back spacing.

i think this might help out some other people too? but i just cant decide, or should i say, i dont know what to get. wheels off the shelp here have about 3"+ of back space, and its like the standard or something. i'm looking at getting some custom ones made up with the desired back space and size, but i want to make sure on what i want is actually what i can use.

thanks heaps.

I'm a fat tire and skinny wheel guy
I have 15x8 2.5 inch Backspace RockCrawlers
with a 33x13.5 Swamper LTB installed on them

I would go with a 15x7 3" Backspace for a set of
street tires 33x12.5 ATs or MTs but this is a skinny
wheel compaired to most

wild, you are a skinny wheel guy. what pressures do you run at? and do the tyres come off the wheels?

anyway, i have been engineered to run 15x8 wheels. and legally, i cant run anything above a 32" tyre which sux. but even tho i've been approved for the 15x8, you're not supposed to run a rim width of more than an inch wider or taller than what was factory issue.

anyway. thanks

Let me see here.
2dr  15x8 black RockCrawlers 2 3/4 offset  32x10.50 swampers
4dr  15x8 black RockCrawlers 2 3/4 offset  32x11.50  BFG M/Ts
Swampers look wider tho.
Maybe I'd like to go to a 15x10 and a little wider tire.
I like them both.
Wheel style I wouldn't change
Chrome may look perty
Black just has a tougher "I'm not for show show" look
(just my opinion tho)

I run the swampers at 10-12 PSI

Only when the tread gets low   ;)

Ditto. Same wheels (15x8, 2.5 BS) but with 31x10.50 Cooper Discoverer S/T. With my 3+3 lift they only rub very slightly while backing up hill with them partially turned. If I had gone with 15x7 I don't think they would rub. I also think I would have been ok with 3" BS.
