You could use your exhaust and intake/carburation from the 1.3 Samurai engine and bolt that directly to the 1.6 8-valve engine and you will see VERY noticeable horsepower and torque gains.

1.6 engine with all the Samurai goodies on it:

so doing the swap with the 1.6 8 v with the carb set up do you still have to have the wiring harness and ecm on off the sidetrack

No... but if you have the ECM and harness already, why not try and make it EFI? You will get bigger power gains, and none of the problems of a carb.

Like Dihnekis sez, no.

Since you would be using everything off the Samurai for intake and exhaust (bolt's right onto the 1.6 8v head), you would use the Samurai's wiring harnes and ECM without modification -- well, maybe you might maybe have to splice on the 1.6's Alternator connector. Maybe.  I'm not sure...

I'm pretty sure the alternator sets up the same, not positive though. I know you can use the trackick alternator on a samurai, just need to change the pulley, so I imagine that it works.

Seriously. Get a 1 wire hookup GM alt and mount. It's easy and solves SO MANY electrical problems. Cost maybe $110 total. Electrical eliminated. And 80amps+ to boot.

was going to see if this setup on a 8v tracker motor would work?
do you need a tranny plate for a sami motor?
