Highlight/trim color
« on: June 27, 2005, 01:00:07 AM »
So, I've got a black bedlined rig, and as I'm doing the suspension work for the SAS, everything is getting painted semi-gloss Rustoleum black... what would be a good color for steering/suspension linkage and diff covers to give it some contrast? Neon green? Safety orange? Bright yellow? Red? What do you guys think?

From what i've seen, bright contrasting colors don't look very good. try some other darks silver or gunmetal. ;)

I've always thought John Deere or Kawasaki Green looked good with black. If you buy the real tractor paint it is extremely tough from what I understand.

i'd go for a blood red, not as bright like fire engine, or candy apple.

blue is over rated, and plus, calmini have blue

then green, like someone said, john deere styles, or go a crimson or shamrock green. my vit was a modded version of shamrock green of some sort.

i dont think bright colours go too well.

maybe a gun metal grey or silver as well.

or how about pure white, like what a powder coat finish looks like?

be interesting to see how these all go.

On the note of blue: I was flipping through an issue of Petersons I picked up a week or two ago that had a Sidekick with blue suspension components in the reader's rides section, and at first, just flipping through, I thought it had a Calmini lift, but it had an SAS with blue parts. Blue is too reminicent of Calmini... and I never really liked teh look of the lift with the rest of the vehicle being black.

I'm starting to see it your guys way: dark colors would probably look best :)

try a colour that is not so out there, and can be easily missed by fred average, but will make the keen wheeler looks twice and scratch his head.

more a sleeper look, but the good bits have a slight high-light to it. you know, just to say this aint just a pretty looking piece, it actually does something good.
