Calmini 5.83:1 Ring & Pinion Gears???
« on: January 19, 2006, 03:40:21 PM »
Will these improve the acceleration of my Vitara from a standing start?
Can you use them with a ARB locker?
I am running the Calmini 3" lift with 30" x 9.5 MTR's.
Calmini 3" Suspension Lift, Calmini Skid Plates, Calmini Rockhoppers, 30" Mud TYres, ARB Bullbar, Rear ARB Locker, Custom Sill Sliders, Rear Bumper and a lot more.

Thanks for the replies

Do you have to run both front and rear?
Or is that a silly question?

That depends on if you want your driveline to explode or not  :P

Actually ....

some mud boggers run different gear ratios AND different tire sizes (think tractor).

so it is actually done (but only with careful attention to the details).
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

Actually a friend and I have talked about building something a little different along the lines of 4x4 hotrod style 30's pickup and running different sized rubber front and rear with diff ratios to suit. Due to the regulations for modding vehicles in OZ it gets a little tough to do certain things but hotrods have special dispensations here and we thought this would be a way to build something street legal that otherwise couldn't be done and it would be old school cool too  ;D
