Trans swapping
« on: February 04, 2006, 10:36:36 AM »
??? Can I use the 5 speed manual trans out of my 92 Tracker parts trucklet, in my 95 that currently has an auto? Would I have to change ECU's? Just thinking for future use in case I use up the auto. Also, with the manual, would I have a lower 1st gear than the auto?  Thanks

You could make the change, lots of work
if you swap ECUs you need to swap the
whole harness to be sure

Damn1 that sounds like a PITA! Maybe I'll just see if I can swap parts at a salvage yard instead. Besides, the auto is so much easier to trail with. Thanks Wild.

You can swap them, you will also need the clutch pedels and such.  the ecu issue- with a 95 it is a non-Obd2 system so it may be a non-issue.   you should also check to make sure your driveshafts will work too. (lenght wise)  Just some thoughts. I went the other way on my last rig. from an auto to man.
