I'd say that his original suspension was 'coil-over' to begin with.  Coil over axle, at least in the rear.

But he might have modified the front to SAS (solid axle suspension) from IFS (independent front suspension) and used coils on top of that axle too (like the rear end) and is calling it that coil over.

my 2 bits.

Isn't a coilover a type of shock that has the sping wraped around the out side of the shock?  that what i always though.  And there is some one builing coil over suspension for the tracker.  I think they are called "Shogun"?

u r correct coilover refers to the coil being over or around the shock or stut. higher end luxury cars come with coilover struts, like lexus. there was a guy on here talking anout he had developed a lift with a coilover strut.

Isnt a spring coiled around a shock called a MacPherson strut??? I thought the coilover was simply the spring coil.

Nope, what we have on our trackkickvit's in the front is a MacPherson strut it's just a shock for IFS and a coil over is a shock and coil in one.

well, the only difference between a shock and a strut is that the strut is mounted solid on one end instead of pivoting (2+ mounting bolts rather than one)

with a coilover stut lift/conversion u would have to reinforce the tower it is not made to support a load just to keep thing stable. i bent mine last weekend and need to straighten it back and build and sturt tower brace but i was beating on it pretty hard.
