How many miles can a sidekick get on it?
« on: February 10, 2006, 11:37:22 PM »
I have a 1990 geo tracker that has about 125000 miles on it. I was wondering if this is a lot of miles for one of these, and I also wondered how many miles do these things last.
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)

I went to 240,000 before I did a rebuild,
now I have 275,000 miles, and I don't plan
on stopping anytime soon, might be a tube
buggy 15 years from now   ;D

Let's put it this way.. I was thrilled to find that mine ONLY had 125K on it when I bought it.. still has another complete life left in it before rebuild.

These things routinely go over 200K...  take care of it, change the oil and have at it!

Our 97 has under 80K, I don't expect to have to touch it for another 100K.

Hello,

Mine's got 235,000 still runs OK,no smoke but the frt seal leaks,Starting to mis...Think it might need new valves...Got it stuck once..Cranked on it till the manifold was cherry red.Still ran fine.
I'm going to rebuild it soon.I think the drive train will out last two bodys...They should have came new with a spare one ;D

my 1.6L has upwards of 300 K... running very strong, no smoke, no knockin or ticken  ;D ... the only thing ever done to it ( other then put it in my sami ) was valve seals a few months back.

My 94 Track is at around 114k.  Had to replace the starter, PS pump, and a few other choice items under the hood, but notiong to the block, (well nothing other then new plugs and wires 4k ago)  ;D

She does smoke and leak a bit, but it's very minor.
