Conversion from 1.6lt 8v to 2.0lt 16v questions
« on: February 16, 2006, 11:44:55 PM »
Hi to all,

I would like to know if someone here has done this conversion and if yes which are the parts that I should get in order to complete the swap.

Do I need different cooler, a/c, starter, pumps, ECU, air filter box, transfer or transmission boxes ...???

Which are the tricky points, I should be aware of?

Thanks.

I was going to do this conversion but didin't because of smog issues here in california....

You would need the engine obviously

2.0 harness and ecu

custom engine mount, and a custom flywheel....

You will also have to do a few things to get all the sensors working (such as speed sensor which takes a bit of work

I think thats pretty much it....

As far as the AC goes I belive you will need a new one, correct me if I am wrong

aftermarket4x4 can help you out with everything listed above

You will also need the 2.0 radiator), and will have to use an electic fan (just remembered that part) as the normal fan will hit Mr. Radiator

Any time,

What state are you located in?

Depending on where you are....

You may not have to worry about all the sensors as I mentioned above...

Just something I though I would mention...

IF you do decide to do this let me know...

I am still with my 8v....

I am going to swap a 16v and turbo it (remove turbo before emissions)...at least that is the plan

I'm  far far away/ I live in Athens Greece. This engine is allowed here.

The reasons for doing this are :
1) that my 8v engine has already a blown header gasket
2) the 2.0lt 16v engine is used by suzuki in conjunction with 4.625 r&ps, so by placing this engine in my car with the 5.125 r&ps and the 30" tires, I will return almost to the factory gearing.
3) The power.

Do you know any reliable junkyard in your place that could ship overseas?
