Guy from our club was doing a sammy t case conversion so i got the job of rebuilding his diffs to stock.
I managed to pick up his R&ps for a nice price.

His t case conversion went well and at 4000rpm he gets 60mph on a set of 32s. he also runs 34s so gearing should be good on those.

As for me i will keep my 4:24 t case and the 5.83s should give me a bit of road gearing back
result.

Good score on the 5.83's. The 2.0 V6 lwb auto I just bought sits on 100mph at 4000rpm on stock rubber. It comes with 4.875 diffs so even 5.12's will help a little with the 32"s I have for it.

holy moly. my vit sits on 3500 doing 100km/h. stock transfer and 5.12's

I can do it in my 4-door (Daily Driver) any time I want.  It ain't no big deal!  BURY that speedo!   

I did it in my Sami after I put the 16V in. It was...how to put it....disconcerting. 

I would be remiss in saying....Not feeling up to that sensation again. 

I think the Sammy DNE speed is about 75 MPH 

I think the SideKick is a little higher, like about 85-90
but I wouldn't want to travel at that speed for long
distances 

I hit 90 in the 1/4 mile with the turbo motor,
but that doesn't last too long

yea, 85 is scary in my GV if the road isn't perfectly smooth. I've been pretty close to 100 on a smooth road and it was fine though. Got to around 95 and slowed down for fear of getting a mega spendy ticket. Maybe I'll hit 100 another time and see how it is. I don't remember what RPM I was in because I was too busy focussing on the road. I do know the RPM's were up there quite a ways, I'm guessing somewhere in the facinity of 4k but probably not under 4k.

The 2.0 V6 model has 2" wider track which helps and the longer wheelbase over the 2 door model also helps and it also sits 1/2" lower. The other plus is that it runs 16" rims so it has the same brakes as the GV. It still had more to go and felt fine but I didn't really want to risk it any further as there were a few cops on the road that day.

think you'll find they aren't the same brakes as a GV, you can still run 15' rims.

I think the 2l v6 is going to be a good platform to build on.

My wife has you all beat.

About 2 months after we got the GV last spring she says to me, "would you be angry if I told you the GV goes 130mph?"

She found a straight section of road and floored it to see how fast she'd go.

I told her to PLEASE PLEASE never do that again. :-X  The idea of going 30mph faster than what the tires are speed rated for is disconcerting to say the least.



Nice score on the gears.  Those things are as rare as can be now.

Hmmm... will have to go back to the brake shop and have another look in the book. I know they are bigger than the 1.6 lwb and I thought looking at the book they were the same as a GV but a different offset. The GV might have bigger drums, need to do a little more checking. Never planned on getting one of these so never took to much notice. Time for some more learning.
