Grill (grille) treatments??
« on: February 27, 2006, 01:41:26 PM »
I broke my grille, wheeling this weekend.. and almost ended up with a stick in my radiator... SO....

I decided to beef it up a bit..

I just cut out the rest of the slats in the center of the grille, cut some lightweight expanded steel to size, and zip-tied it into place..

I decided to use black texture paint on the grill this time..

Whaddya think??

After

before

Close up.

I drilled holes that are hidden, to mount the grill, and used Zip ties.. all the way around.. they barely show are are surprisingly strong...

That looks sweet.  All your mods make me almost wish I had an older beater instead of a  4 year old DD.  But the mods are coming... soon... very soon ;)

Are you selling your older third members and lockright soon?

Yep, the gears should be here by Friday....  gimme a little time to get the old ones out, and the new ones in... then I will post here when I put them on Ebay.

It is nice, having the old rusty beater to start with.... cause ANYTHING I do with it.. is an improvement.. LOL...  Dented my Drivers door this weekend..  first of MANY to come I would say..

I am wanting a nicer street DD, now.. LOL..  I wouldn't cut on IT either..

I would REALLY like to have a 4 door 16v  and put some real good AT's on it.. no lift or anything.. Automatic, air.. you know.. DD!!

NICE!
I have thought of customizing the front, but I didnt think long.  This looks good and its simple to make. I like your bumper cover mod, but my sidekick has a diffrent cover design. I dont think it  will turn out as good.  We will see when I get bigger tires and lift some day.

Thanks for posting your pics; I've been thinking of doing something like that for awhile, but the mounting was the PITA to figure out.  Now, where's those zip ties...  ;D

Yep, it didn't look right with no emblem... I "might" put a Zuki emblem on it... or something custom..

My 11 year old wants a skull...LOL.....  nope too ghetto...

BUT, I do have a logo for my company... I might use that.... if I can get one made.

Does anyone have a link to one of those places that will CNC you out emblems and such.... out of billet??? I saw the link not too long ago.

no, that wasn't it.. those are all flat, cut with a water or laser, it looks like..

The guy I am talking about uses billet aluminum and the emblems are 3d....   You can send them your stock emblems, and they will reproduce them in billet alum..  I will try to find the link..

But thanks.. that site looks cool too.. I can think of a couple of things I would like from them.
