TracKick 3-speed automatics, right?

Just double-checking before I buy one at the salvage yard tomorrow...

I picked it up this afternoon -- & took delivery of everything from the driver's side CV  to the passengers's side!  Third member, housing, rubber center mount, & both CV shafts!

(oops! -- forgot the pic!)

Thank you Action Auto Parts!  ;D

Did the kick have a 1.3 carb engine?  1.6 2 doors had 512's.
Count the ring gear teeth and divide by the pinion count.

The engine was gone (no suprise there) but the automatic transmission was there.  I guess I should give the pinion a spin and count the output rotations but I am pretty sure that I got what I wanted.  I was pleased at the fact that I got way more than I was expecting in the deal...  (I forgot the picture in the second post).

do trackick t-cases fit into sammys?

Short answer: yes.

Long answer: The Tracker transfer case bolts directly to the rear of the transmission case.  The Samurai transfer case connects through a short driveshaft  and has it's own frame mounts.  Putting a TracKick t-case into a Samurai is a fab job that may not be worth the gain, if any.

HOWEVER, there are a number of aftermarket gearsets available for the Samurai t-case!

If you are thinking about regearing your drivetrain, there are several articles on the subject at various Zuk sites that can help you avoid problems.

Guess what everybody... The answer ain't at Ack's FAQ! ;D

Breaking News!  Trailtough.com's article on gearing IS now on Ack's FAQ!

(and yes, the dif turned out to be a 4.625.  There are three more 4.625s sitting in this salvage yard)

Anyone know where that article on transfer case vs differential gearing is located?  "Roadless Gear" keeps popping into my mind...
