								From the looks of it, it has a tapered bearing in the end and attaches to a live component. There does not seem to be any pivot apart from that bearing. 
I would guess that it is an upper arm that attaches to a pivot point on the chassis and then bolts up to a knuckle assembly - eg upper / lower arm arrangement
