Crank gear width and thread direction
« on: March 07, 2006, 10:16:02 PM »
I've got a japan take out 1.6 8v motor for my kick. The crank gear is 1" wide, the original gear is 3/4". As a result i've got timing belt walk of about 1/4". I can't get the crank bolt off to change the gear.

Does anybody know which vehicles came with the wider crank gear, and is it reverse thread?

Thread is regular on and off, but the crank
cog is the same on the 8V in all the years
I have seen, the 16V is a little wider.

I can measure in the morning, but I think the
regular 8V is about 1" and the 16V is about 1-1/4"
or so.
