hey, ive got a weird one. maybe some one can help. my 91 4x4 sidekick has started to have a 2300RPM idle. i can turn it off two or three times and the idle goes to 800RPM. it runs fine other than that. what say you all? could it be the trottle body, fuel pressure, computer, etc...?
 thanks ???

It's a flaw in the "Wax Pellet" design in the
cold start air bypass valve, I tried to get mine
out, and gave up, but I hear there is a plug
or somthing to get it to a more normal cold idle

mine does the same thing if I turn on the headlights or some other electrical accessory. It also will surge up and down about 800 to 1000 rpm while idling.
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)

Mine does the same thing..with accys going it will dip down to 500 for a few seconds and recover...

I thought that was symptomatic of a disfunctional MAP sensor... do you have the OE installed... is it bad?

Mine was just a bad vaccum hose. Check all the small hoses just to the left of where your intake mounts to the motor. I had a small hole in one and did not know what the problem was untill the hose broke in half. When I replaced the hoses the problem went away.
