I played around with a bunch of different springs after comparing spring data. You will find that very few springs will work good in the front of a TracKick. The spring rate is around 450 PPI but the dimensions of the spring make it difficult to find one that works properly.

I looked at Old Man Emu (OME) and BDS springs which give about 1.5-2" of lift but the prices seemed so high. I then got involved with Boondox Motorsports and they made me a set of coils that lifted my wifes Kick about 3" while retaining a soft ride. They also provided strut spacers, rear differential mounts and front differential drop brackets as well as long rear shocks and brake lines for about $500 which seems like a pretty good deal. Or you could just buy the springs.

If you are on a budget that doesn't allow that then you could try to find some springs in the boneyard. I hate to recommend any because I don't want anyone upset with my advice if they don't like the results of the ones I recommend. When I first read about springs others had used I would search until I found some and then try them. I was disappointed and that is alot of messing around just to be disappointed. I will admit though that I can swap out springs on a TracKick in less than anhour now. If you PM or email me I can tell you what ones I think worked the best. They wheren't perfect but they did provide some lift and where ok for spring rates. Nothing like the ones I have now though. I prefer lifting with springs but a lot of guys are doing it with spacers. I'm sure some of them will chime in.

Stock fronts are about 450 PPI and rears around 150 on a 2 door. Heights are about 10.75" front and 12" rear.

You can use 4 door springs on a 2 door but the lift is minimal and the rates are heavier. Newer Grand Vitara springs provide lift also but have stiffer rates that will affect ride and articulation.

Hello,

I was thinking about using race car springs under mine? They have an inside diameter of 2.5 inchs. I can get them in 12" and 14" lenghts and just about any rate you could think of.
I'd like to try 12" x 475 lbs in frt and 14"x 150lbs in the rear.Thats the type spings on Trail Tough's ride that the guys were posting about. But they went solid axle....Them cut my sky spacers for the front to level it out after all the weight of the bumper and winch.Anybody have a set of stock 2 door springs that they can get the lenghts from??? Mine are still under the ride. Here's some of the springs go to:
www.afcoracing.com            under trucks,then springs,these are 2 5/8 inside but I think 2.5 will work.

4-door front springs are only a little taller and have a slightly stiffer spring rate. They give a 2 door about 1/2-1 inch of lift in the front. The rears are about an inch taller with a slightly stiffer rate and give about 1 1/2 inches of lift (from what I have seen).  We've been installing 1999 on up 4-door front and rear springs under the 2-door Track/Kicks and you will get a solid 2" lift in the front and about 2 1/2 in the rear and it still rides great. A 2-3" lift spring is all you can get under a Track/Kick without the springs bowing outward so for most applications you are better off going no higher than that with the stock IFS suspension.

Good luck in your hunt for springs.....hope this helped.

I think 2.5 will work.

I have considered those springs too. You would have to do something with the base of the spring to make it fit the pocket of the control arm or modify the arm to fit the spring. The OEM control arm is designed to support the base of a spring with a diameter of 3.3" +/- a few thousands. The same holds true for the rear spring but it is a little more tolerant.

A 2-3" lift spring is all you can get under a Track/Kick without the springs bowing outward so for most applications you are better off going no higher than that with the stock IFS suspension.

I definately agree. Anything more and it's dropped A-arms, etc.
