How many body mounts???
« on: March 19, 2006, 10:20:16 AM »
Hey everyone "newbie" here, I just recently picked up a 91 Tracker 4X4, and I'm sure this question has been asked before......how many body mounts are there on a 91 tracker and where are they located (ie. 2 on either side of the frame or on the bumpers???) Just trying to do a cheap body lift on her..Also what could I use to lift it without spending a lot og cash ???..Thanks Mike

I will try to get some pic of the tracker soon.....

8, the rear and the ones under the body are all
the same, the fronts are different, there is a capture
nut in the frame, and long bolts to hold it all together

I would say get the lift kit, it's like $120
and has all the parts needed, unless you
want to fabricate all your own stuff, it's a
little more involved than just throwing a
couple of pucks under there and calling it
done, tho that could be done, I wouldn't
do it that way, you will have other problems
it you do a half baked lift kit

You can't use hockey pucks, not only are they not good material, the body bolts are welded to the body, and they're not long enough. You will need to buy a kit, or some people use 3x3 box steel. You need 12 blocks, 8 mounts, plus there are 4 non-bolted supports you need to address.

Go with Sky's 2" body lift ($120) and coil spacers ($80 for 4).  For $200 and a few hours time you will be able to fit 31" tires. :D  http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/

Or you can search for posts about home made body lifts like mine and use the coil spacers.  I'm very happy with my home made body lift, but I'm on a serious budget (family of 5 on one income).  If I had the money I'd have gone with Sky's body lift.  Check out my pic below for how mine looks with the coil spacers and my body lift.  I can shoot you some pics if you want to know how I did my body lift.

That's what I got...I took the rear bumper cover off,And the headlights out.You wouldn't have to remove the front bumper..I made a custom baja/winch for the front.Back is still Missing...Sky's is the most cost effective way to lift a Tracker... ;D
