That's a scary word there... RUST

But anyway, my question is, what can you do about it? I'm starting to notice some rust here and there on my tracker and I'm wondering what can be done to prevent it.  I'm already planning on taking out the seats and carpet and giving it a rhino lining on the inside once it gets warm enough too. I'm also planning on getting it painted this spring, and the body panels with rust spots will definately be sanded down and primered or replaced totally. Is there anything else I'm missing though? Are there places you can get undercoating done at? All the ice,salt, and snow over the years can do some damage I'm sure. I haven't noticed anything as of yet, but I'd like to prevent it before it happens. I just want my tracker to last as long as possible especially when I finally get the money to put some nice off-road equipment on it.

The answer?  Move to Aridzona, Utah, New Mexico, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana, or maybe Colorado.

We just don't GET rust much here!  My trail rig lived in Dallas, intil 2002, so it's got some minor rust.

Utah? we get rust, its a problem in utah. They are not afraid to use salt on the roads after a snow storm. The best thing is to undercoatit when you rhino line it.  That prevents rust from happening were you cant always see it and make sure if you get a rock chip or something that exposes it to weather to put paint on it so it can be free to rust.

I'm from northern eastern vermont, need I say more?

get your hands on a spot blaster(small hand held unit) to clean up the inside before the rhino lining (just the spots) and a good epoxy primer (DP-40, PPG brand etc..). caution if the floor is really bad you could blow holes in it. .if you undercoat and find more rust later the stuffs a real pain to clean up and fix!!
