Gen-Erix here,

Now I did a search on my topic and didnt find anything.
So if this subject was already brought up and I missed it.
M'bads.

Anyway, I want to swap my bolt pattern.
Stock 5x139 to something more universal 5x114
I figured the 5x114 would still keep up the integrity of the ride.
Plus if I were to get custom rims in my stock bolt pattern it would be over a grand.
(and I just cant afford it ever since I got ripped off)
So I checked online and a basic bolt pattern swap is around
$200 making it probably the best way to go "street-wise".

So if anyone can share any ideas or advice, please feel free.
(ie. like how it would affect the brakes, suspension, spacing, etc)

I know there are great minds and savy mechanics on the
site so I appreciate anything constructive you have to offer.

Thank you and aloha.   8)

What about lighter rims?
Something in the same family as this...
(just as long as they clear the calipers)

using some aluminum adapters spacers would work as it is would allow you to run the high offset front wheel drive rims. They would probably be custom though and I'm not sure the smaller bolt pattern would clear the hubs in the front or is your 2wd?

Hey, thanks for hit.  And yeah, 2WD.
I really dont want to run spacers as to keep it tucked.  (and HI legal)
Someone already suggested I take hubs/brakes from another ride
(nissan quest, toyota pickup, rav4, camry, etc) and adapt them on.
That way the spacing would coincide with the rims already made for that style.
Although the rims dont neccesarily have to be for High Offset FWD vehicles.

But I hear shops do the straight conversion.

youre probably right about that!

I pretty much figured a shop can do it.
But I was wondering if someone knew the ins and outs.
I do appreciate the help though.
Takk

Well first off nice ride. It would look better with some sweet rims. Next doing a bolt pattern swap and going bigger in rim size is not a good idea small pattern will put more stress on the drive train. TO run a 20 you going to have to be in a 30 to 35 profile depending on how much drop you have. Plus backside setting are really touchy on 20s and 18s so i high offset might hit the strut. If i were you i would invest in 5x5.5 bolt pattern wheel with high offset save the hassell and problems down the road the 5x114.3 are generally not load rated for you car and with 30 profile will take abuse trust me. my car rides like a tank i think i bent a wheel every pot hole i hit.

could you be a little more specific?

If I swap the hubs with a van weighing the same as me
then shouldnt I be ok "load-rating" wise?

rims that are 5x114 are generally easier to get in different offsets so
I also figure hitting the struts wouldnt come into play

Im really interested in where youre going with this.
Is this something Im overlooking?

I tried to post before but obviously messed up  :-[
I was going to suggest the custom spacer idea. There are two types of rear drum, some are shaped on the inside and are thicker where the studs mount. I doubt if that type would be suitable for redrilling, you would have to see which type you have.

I was also thinking this
but what is the widest tire I can run to NOT run flares

I figure adapters will add at least 2-3" which leaves the rim at 6
which is pretty darn skinny
(for it to tuck and be legal)

Is the money you SPEND doing the bolt pattern swap going to be worth the money you will SAVE on the price of 5x114 wheels?

First, I think your pattern swap will cost more than $200. Second, most wheel/tire combo's are more than a grand - are they not? When I bought my 15's for my civic they were $1100...when I upgraded to 17's they were about the same...
It just doesn't seem like it's worth the effort for the money you'll save, if you do.
