First of all I would like to say I wasn't smoking anything I shouldn't have been.

I pulled into the house last night, park and get out of car. As I am walking away I noticed allot of smoke rising from the back of my tracker. There was enough smoke that I thought the thing was on fire. I get around to the back and see that it is coming from the tailpipe, and doesn't seem to be slowing down. So I start it back up and it seems to clear the exhaust of a bunch of smoke and then is fine. I have driven it twice since without it happening again.

It is a 2001 tracker with the 2L 4cyl. The exhaust was very white, no black or blue. Anyone have this happen or know what might cause it to happen?

was it snowy weather?

i hawe experienced lots of smoke when snow melts on the exhaust.
other than that, i can tell that my father's old Peugeot smokes a LOT when it's cold -in cold weather.
there is nothing wrong with that car...

No it was actually very nice out 10 degrees or so. I drove around 20k and there was no visible smoke at startup or while driving, not that I noticed anyway.

Just hope it doesn't happen again, almost had a heart attack when I thought it was on fire 

Also should mention that there was no standing water around that I could of driven through when pulling into the drive.

I just don't get it, I have never seen a vehicle throw exhaust like that when turned off.
