body lift suppliers?
« on: May 01, 2006, 12:57:07 PM »
Is there another company out there offering body lifts for the Gen. 2 vehicles besides Rocky Road? Will the Gen. 1 kits work on the newer vehicles?

I know I will get a lot of build it yourself replies. I work 12 hours a day six days a week and just don't have the time to do it.

Sky Manufacturing may have the body lift you're looking for.

You say you wouldn't build it yourself but would you be installing it yourself?  If not then it might be better to find out about a good service place in the area and talk to them about the options, what they think is best and what they have experience with.  Other info:

-Rocky Road use Old Man Emu spring lift plus spring spacers, you could use Old Man Emu on its own if you don't need as much height (1.25").
-Calmani make a lift
-Other manufacturers make springs that will fit like Tough Dog and Rancho

I don't have a lift but that's what I can recall from my reading, I'm thinking of the OME lift but since I don't have spare $$ yet I'll be keeping my eyes open for anything else.

Thanks for the info but I am looking for body, I know what is out there for suspension. I didn't say that I don't have the knowledge to build it, I don't have the time. I would rather order a kit and use the free time I do have installing it.

ebewley - I think I contacted them a while ago and they said they don't offer them for Gen. 2. I may be wrong, Ill check them out again.

Thanks

Boondox is testing a kit right now, I've taked to Steve about it. Unfortunately their test truck got "t-boned" but good news the body lift stayed intact. I'm waiting to get one myself.

i know RR doesn't have these body lifts in stock right now but maybe they have the steering extension in stock??  they kinda told me that the new body lift is basically the old one with brake line extensions and the steering extension option.  can be done without the brake line extensions.  i'm waiting to speak with sky mfg again  to get a little more info. if the older model blocks and bolts will work i will call RR today about steering extension and post up later.

either way i do have one piece of good news; the Sky mfg 2inch body lift will fit up to the 99+ models.  i'm trying to get through to RR to see if they have any steering extensions in stock..  if so i'm ordering this stuff up seperately while things are in stock!

good question about the brake lines.... hhhhhmmmm, for some reason i think it's the back but am not sure.  if you look up 'ZR2' you can see some of his install and how he addressed the brake line issue by simply moving the mount lower and drilling a new line hole.

ok, spoke with RR, was told that the steering extensions might be available next week to try calling back next wednesday, i can only hope!

it would be great if anybody that has this installed could take a nice bright pic of the steering extension and post up.  i was able to get a link to a company that can fab this stuff up pretty cheap.  if things don't progress quickly with RR i will go this route i guess...  thanks!

ya, the nomaad write up is good.

i've ordered the BL from RR today, it's still on backorder but they do have the steering extensions in stock, i spoke the the company that manufactures the lift components and they had a shipment ready to go to RR.  they also mentioned that anytime they ship out RR seems to sell out of them really really fast.  just an fyi for anybody else out there looking for this product.  i'm just dreading putting this thing on..........
