Your close! I am on the Sunshine Coast. I have seen a few around here as well. I really like the Hardtop version. It looks really solid to my eyes and is the smallest solid roof 4X4 SUV available. The good news is I ve made up my mind on what version I am getting. Its going to be the Sidekick Hardtop 2-door. If you see any for sale for a good price let me know LOL.

Thanks

It's the opposite around here, I've seen more tintops for sale more than convertibles, maybe because people hang on to them  ;)

I found a 1998 Hardtop, so I guess Suzuki made the version until they fully changed thier line up name to Vitara in 1999.

Did they make a hard top saumurai?  I thought the sidekick wasn't introduced until 89.

On a sidenote I have an '89 hardtop 2-door sidekick JLX.  I don't personally see the advantage of a hard versus soft top, but mine is pretty sweet looking.  It's in fact the same color as the sidekick pictured in the suzuki catalog where they first introduced the model.  I've not seen another one in the light metallic blue color except in that catalog.

Convertibles are great for cruising and offroading with the topdown. During hot summer nights I used to drive my Jeep YJ with the top off to some look out points to get a great view of the city, it was very refreshing. I also did some topless offroading and found it very enjoyable. The only thing I didnt like while having the top off was bee's and bugs could really get at you. Man the Jeep 4.OL was great for trails and exploring but I have to put it in the past and forget about it because the gas prices. Out of the 10 vehicles I ve owned 4 of them had removable top's.

I ve made my choice on choosing which version I will get. The Hardtop 2-door will be it. With all of the crazy weather out there and me always finding myself in cold weather I think a metal roof will do the trick. I am happy Suzuki produced all the different versions they did.
