ok im totaly confused
i have a 87 suzuki samuri
running the 1600 block with a 1300 head stage 1cam
and a webber
im geting 16mpg
when i should be getting 22+ mpg

my old motor was a real clunker and burned at lest 1 quart of oil a week if not more
so i figured i had a pluged cat
so being the genus that i am i cut the thing off and it was empty no hunny comb at all compleatly empty

the man i bought it from had a whole new exaust put on it encluding the cat?
im stumped

I squeezed an extra 3MPG out of my 'kick lately by replacing the paper air filter with a K&N oiled gauze filter and replacing the transmission fluid and filter.  I also just adjusted my timing tonight, it was 4 degrees off so hopefully that'll help with MPG.

You should also check the idle setting is in spec.  When I got my sidekick it idled at 600 RPM above spec. 

Did you check to make sure the cat's guts didn't get blown into the muffler and is clogging that up?

We didn't think to check that. Will have to do that in the morning. Funny thing. He had the Muff shop check it before he cut it. They told him it was plugged.
