Before I did a leaf over on my convertable, I ran LTB 31x11.50's. For a street driven trail rig (if there is a such thing) they held up well. They are a bias ply so if they sit for awhile they'll get a flat spot that goes away once they warm up. For offroad to get them to bite the best I'd have to lower the pressure to about 8psi front/ 6psi rear. Now I have them on my leaf over tintop and they are still running strong never getting a puncture.

What about the Interco Thornbird or TSL's ? Has anyone tried them? The TSLs really don't look much different from the LTBs.

I wouldn't run a thornturd if I had to. A friend ran them for a while and sold them so cheap he gave them away pretty much. They didn't work well on ANY surface, at any psi. LTB's are a little luggier and are a softer compound than the TSL's.

with the compound being softer is that going to cause them to ware faster than say the TSL radial?with a spool or locker?
i've never liked thornbirds ether, could'nt get past the look.

for dual purpose go for interco trxus MT's, they are almost the same pattern as a ltb any way, but they last FOREVER on the road! and they go any where off road.... how ever i am going to be running ltb's eventually due to there cheaper price and I wheel like twice a week on average ;D ... but until then im sticken with my oldschool biasplys

i currently run ltb 31x11.50 i have alocker and it will cause any tire to wear faster. offroad with a locker they r nearly unstopable in the mud. on road they roll however the ride is not that good do to the massive voids. if u drive on road more than off try a tsl radial or the ssr's. the center section of lugs is much closer together and gives a much better ride and thye still performe offraod. i live 45 minutes from the super swamper factory and 15 minutes from the co-op factory i have run many tires on my rig from both places. the new 31" iroc that will be out soon is by far the best ride and performace combo swamper will offer. they told me they would be out by the end of march or beging of april. i tested a pair for 500 mile and they did great i can't wait for another set. however with all of swampers tires the radials r much heavier than thier bias ply. there r 2 types of bias ply the ones with nylon cord and ones wuth polyester cord. polyester rides better but is weeker than nylon. all swampers bias plys except for irocs r made with nylon cord irocs use polyester cord. nylon corded tires also give u that bump bump bump as u go down the road for the first mile or so. by the way haw much r the ltbs ur looking at. here is a link to swamper http://www.intercotire.com/left_index.htm

yes there r currently 33 available but the thread said 31 which aren't available yet. if i have to recomend a swamper to anyone it would be an IROC over any other swamper. they have directional tread like a bogger on the outer edge and a senter lug simular to a BFG mtr. so in mud, rock, sand, on road and anything else u can think of they r awsume. the only tire that can compare to these r CRAWLER T/A's but u can buy 2 sets of IROC's for the price of 1 set of CRAWLERS and the smallest crawler is 35". Ask Mike H. how the crawlers ride.

I'm running 31x10.5 TSL's and have yet to wear them out.  I've had mine a little over 2 years.  They do flat spot as well, but I keep mine at 10psi all the time, on road or off.  I'm sure if you ran them at a higher pressure for the road, they wouldn't flat spot as badly.
I have known three different samurai's to run the thornbirds (we call them super chickens), and none of their owners liked them.  However, the two guys I know that have big trucks (full-size chev's) swear by them.  If your going to run them on a full size rig with plenty of H.P. to spin the tires, they seem to work OK, but a samurai is just too light and underpowered to make them work.

I'm running 31x10.5 TSL's (S U P E R C H I C K E N S) as well and everybody knows that my truck doesn't go very many places and I have had my tires for only a year. But that's going to change when DeVinney put's on the SAS.  Then it's up to him what the truck will run.
