Fuel delivery problem
« on: May 22, 2006, 12:19:26 PM »
Just bought a project vehicle (91 Suzuki Sidekick JLX) Fuel pump was hooped so I put a new one in. It gets fuel to the injector but no further. I stuck the injector in my runnimg tracker and it works fine. Vehicle was running fine till the fuel pump packed it in --- then it sat for 3 or 4 years. Any ideas?  Could it be the computer? Pour gas in the carb and it will run fine. By the way this vehicle is EFI (throttle body).

Have you checked the fuel line....maybe is clogged or damaged?

Like I said I get fuel to the injector but no further. Either I don't have enough fuel pressure which the specs say I need 40 lbs. or more to open the injector or the computer is not sending a pulse to the injector. Since I just put a new fuel pump in I don't think the pressure problem is an issue.

Put  your test light accross the inj. conn and crank the eng. If it blinks the ecu and harness are OK. If it doesn't blink then you have to find out if you have pwr. to the feed side of the inj. harness if you have pwr. then it's on the grnd. side or the ecu.

That would be the most likely way to figure it out and narrow it down. I would almost be willing to bet on a faulty ECM, though...
Had a cool sig pic till I changed the text... sigh...
