« on: May 31, 2006, 02:14:19 PM »
hey everyone. the last couple of days it has been over 30 celcius here, so drivingcreates more heat then normal. the last few days after driving it (temp gage goes to just about half way) i park it in the drive way and notice a biut of oil under the car, but once it sits for lie 30 seconds the leak stops. i was justdonering if youz thought it might be the head gasget gone? or is there somewhere else that oil would lkeake out of when it heats up more then normal.? thankx again

Do a search on oil leaks.

Get under there with some Simple Green, Greased Lightning, or any degreaser and give it a good cleaning and bath when it's cool.  It'll make finding a leak about a thousand times easier than trying to search around a gunked up, muddy engine.  If'n ya can't find it, ya can't fix it, right?   ;D

Dripping in the front? Back?

Most leaks are from Valve Cover gasket
or the distributor drive, BTW what engine
do you have???

I would replace the valve cover gasket
and if it is still leaking, replace the O-ring
and use a little silicone (grey) on it to give
a positive seal, just a light coat will do.

Good Luck

I had a leak around the same place.  I ended up replacing the oil pump and the leak went away.

My new issue I just noticed was after a weekend of off road and on road driving my oil was gone.  Literally, I had to put in about 3 to 4 quarts.  No leakage or anything.  Runs strong and I did get an oil light for about 5 minutes but then it went off.  Spooky huh?
