i think this should make sense. im not familiar with the sami gears but i think they also have reduction on 4H which should help regear for taller tires.

BINGO!
This is exactly why I'm looking into this, so far I think the only problem is, the setup will be around 12inch longer over a stock Tracker 4x4 drivetrain.  I can run 4:30 gearing instead of running 5.83s for 31in tires (Manual 5-Speed), if I have my calculations correct.  I think my calculations are not on the money, because I did not take in account the 5th gear ratio.  There are 2 different 5th gear ratios in Samurai Transmissions and only one 5th gear ratio (that I know of) in Tracker 2wd Transmissions.

I'm looking to install a Samurai Transfer Case behind a Tracker 2wd Transmission.  Since I can't search on the Pirate, I'm now having a hard time getting the info I need.  :(

wezzlegod,
I'm still trying to get some measurements from OTT Industries.

Garbage,
I'm not looking to install a second transfercase.

CJ,
Thanks for the link, I wonder if their kit is like OTT's or is it mounted with an intermediate Driveshaft like a stock samurai?  I think it's more  like an OTT Type setup?

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't go back to 4:30's, that sure puts a LOT of strain on the T-case mounts and the T-case..  It is usually better to do whatever gearing you can at the axles, it is asking a LOT to make the T-case and driveshafts and mounts to turn big tires with 4:30's.

There should be no strain on the drivetrain, since a stock samurai has 3.73 gears to run a stock 27 inch tall tires.

The 4.30 is the ring and pinion ratio used with the Stock Samurai TC High Range Gear Reduction for 31s.  (It is geared at the axles)

4.30 (Tracker / Toyota Gears) X 1.409 (Samurai T-Case Stock High Range) = 6.04461
27 X 6.04461 = 163.5849
163.5849 / 5.12   (Stock Manual Tranny Tracker Gears) = 31.950 Tall Tires

The Tracker is heavier than a Sammy, I guess not by much... but  still...    you WILL have extra strain on your tc mounts, and u-joints.. I guess not enough to worry about though..

You sound as if you have it thought out well........ carry on... lol...

And yes, Chief has done this.. give him a PM.

kozaz keep us posted. im really intrigued with this setup.

btw, sammy tcase has the rear driveshaft on the passenger side. wonder if this will post a problem with the rear carrier of the tracker center mounted.

there are a few options you can do,
first you could do is buy a 2wd tracker tranny and run a divorced sami case behind that that will give you enough gearing to run 35' tires
second you can do is contact ott and buy n adapter
third and what i am doing for strenght reasons and more gearing optins in the future is i have modified my tracker tcase cut the front output off rewleded the case make a drive shaft adapter to mate a divorced toyota transfer case behind the modified tracker tcase the adapter to make the toyota case a divorced case i will be purchasing from ott i think this is one of the better choices in gearing aspects and strength. i will post pictures when all done i just started.

I wish I had this thought out as well as you think! LOL!  Maybe I should pony up the 20 bucks so I can search the pirate.

I figure maybe I could incorporate a Samurai Kong Transfercase Mount and Toyota Driveshafts to help with the stress.

I figure If I use a Toyota CV Drive shaft it should illiminate the vibrations.  If not, Could always go with a offset Toyota Diff made by SkyManufacturing.

Thier adapter for using a Sammy TC behind a 1.8 Tracker Motor/ Sammy Trans might would work,  I have to email them for Tracker 2wd Transmission specific info. Plus they are expensive.   :-\

If I understand you correctly you will then have dual cases, (Sammy/Toyota TCs)?  Not sure how this will look when all bolted up?  Do you know of anybody else that has done this?  I already own a toyota and also have some 4.7 gears in a box.  Just never got around to installing them.  ::)

I'll be doing something like this when I get enough money. Prolly go with the RS bolt on kit because it should save me a lot of engineering  ;).

I've been calculating on it a bit and kame to this conclusion:

Sammy T-case in a tracker will give you 40% reduction overall.
33" tyres give you 20% increase in gearing.
So overall it'd give a a 20% reduction in High gearing, lows are even more but I can't remember how much exactly.

But yeh Kozaz let us know how it's gonna work out. But I'd have to modify my 4wd trans because 2wd ones are very very rare over here in the EU. :-\
