Water Pump Question....
« on: February 08, 2005, 12:31:44 PM »
How do you know when your water pump stops working or is malfunctioning... (I know this sounds like a dumb question but please bare with me for I don't know for sure what the problem is.)

My idle has been rather noisy as of late and seems to only be at start up for a few minutes then goes away.

This happened once about a month ago and then went away.  This past weekend, I went for a jaunt to a nearby town to pick up my woman and later that evening it started up again.

Now it's pretty bad...I checked my oil and it was near the empty mark...I'm going to check it tomorrow before I leave for work and add some if necessary.

If the problem still persists, I'm swinging by my mechanic and see if he can diagnose the problem.

This really worries me, I ride is very well taken care of and I don't have a lot of flow to spend right now. :(

No water loss and the fan seems tight.  I added some oil and started it up.  BIG PROBLEMS NOW!  Noise is ultra loud and my battery light is on.  I think my alternator is busted again...

I leaving it home today and my dad is taking it over to our mechanic.

I let you know what they find.  Oh brother, why now...

Also take note he said, "I checked my oil and it was near the empty mark...I'm going to check it tomorrow before I leave for work and add some if necessary." I would think it's a combination of symptoms along with the alt, and something internal in the engine. Hopfully you didn't throw a rod...  :-[ In_Flames would really be in flames if it did.  :-[
