Spend 5 dollars on a Prestone Flush kit at the auto parts store.....
Install on the heater hose..... install a garden hose...... and blow away.
90 Samurai 4" lift finally installed.  Now it's time for some good tires.

....Or disconnect a heater hose, connect a garden hose, and blow away.  Then re-install heater hose.  Those junctions in the kits crack all the time after a few years.  Working in an auto parts store in the past, i used to sell replacements all the time cause they cracked from heat.  They are a pretty good idea though, but you have to cut the original heater hose to install it.

I normally disconnect the lower rad hose (to flow more volume), and the cap of course, then flow thru a heater hose or the t-stat housing and let it all flow out.  Usually when i have the radiator out to do a timing belt i'll backwash it thru all the disconnected upper and lower hoses.  It doesn't take too much to get it clean enough.

I've also always just flush from the upper hose out the bottom hose (and yea, pull the thermo). I, usually hook a hose to bypass the heater box and flush it independently as well.

I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

I did the same thing :)

I decided to get a 3 core - appairently that's overkill 'cause engine has a hard time getting to temp - even in 90F+ weather. Needle stays 1/2 way between "bottom" and the first mark... and engine keeps cold-start high RPM rev for a WHILE. And... my clutch fan is DEAD. So... sick with a stock 2 core Radiator! Not shure what I'm going to do this winter... need to find a way to heat my zook back up!

rad did the job. took her out today with uper 90s high humidity and ran her hard to town then in traffic driving. never got past one third of gauge ;D. not a bad 130.00 spent.

On my old Gremlin, we used to stick a pizza box in front of the radiator to get it to heat up in the winter.  Ahhh, the good old days...
