i just got a really cheap, and pretty beat up 87' samurai that had been sitting outside for approximately 8 months without ever being run to use as a part time project since i love tinkering with things.
after some mild mait. i got it to fire and noticed a couple things i was wondering if you guys could help me with.
1) the charcoal canister on the pass firewall POURS fuel out the bottom when the truck is running. is this just because its old and clogged or is there a bigger problem. also since this is just emissions related can i just connect the inlet to the outlet, plug the vac line and be done with it. any input
2) the transfer case shifter has a TON of slop in it and seems to be locked outta 2hi. it seems to go into 4hi and 4lo. any easy fixes for this or is the tcase shot and in need of rebuild. do i have to yank it out to fix this problem.
3) im in search of a WAY cheap lift. maybe 3" just to clear some 31x1050s fairly easily. from some mild research i have found that apparently you can swap stock yj springs in place of the stockers and get a little bit of lift, is this true. if so or if not, what is the cheapest way to get like 2.5-3.5" outta it. (the truck has some REALLY GHETTO angle iron homemade shackles that will be coming off and the stock springs are so worn and corroded they actually bow the opp direction.) my goal is to put the absolute lowest amount of possible $$$ into this
also since this is my first post, lemme just say hi and thanks in advance. my name is ryan and i live in tallahassee fl. my primary interest is racing and my $$$ pit is a 99 TransAm that goes way low into the 11's |removethispart|@123-124 natural aspirated with nothing but a tire swap as the difference between daily driver trim and race trim. since i live in tallahassee though and love trail riding and mudding, figured i might as well build something extremely cheap i can thrash around some
so thanks again
and for those interest heres a pic of my $300 new toy

and heres a pic of my baby
