steering issue

Ok im very new to zukis but not new to working on cars (own a merkur that should give ya a clue:P ) But I still am learning a lot about this little turd.

I forgot to completely check what it has but as it is right now its still 2wd 1.6l 8 valve early 90s jx with a rebuilt head. Tommorow its getting a 4wd makeover but I decided that I would play with it some before I sent on the lift. Well i ended up hitting something hard when i was wheeling around and it still drives straight but when the steering wheel is centered it now drifts to the right....I think I knocked over a few splines on the steering shaft but im really not sure what i did yet. Has anyone experienced this ? Im looking at the suspension and nothing looks wrong  and it does drive straight but the wheel is slightly vertical now rather than centered when i want to drive straight.

I should mention I have a wrecked zuki with a 3inch body lift and many more goodies that are getting swapped over so it wont be stock for long Im hoping i just knocked it back a few splines and just have to center it again but who the hell knows ..

Do you have the awd Merkur?  Those can be fun with the Turbo on them.  :)

You might have just bent the steering shaft.  Since the steering system isn't tucked up like it is on a Independent Front End, a good shot into a stump can bend things up pretty good.  Or being winched back off of a stump after your spotter thought you could clear it.  Lucky for me he had a spare...   :P

I would take a look at the bars in front of your front axel and see if it has a suspicious bow to it before checking to see if your steering box skipped a couple of teeth.
