SAMURAI question....for those who trail ride a lot...

Does anyone have a problem with their carburator giving out an any angles while they are trail riding?
I want to do some trail riding with mine once I finish getting it legal enough to drive. But I notice a couple guys in the local JEEP club have problems with their carburators not working at certain angles.
How steep can you climb in a Samurai before you have to worry about the carb giving up....?
If it is a problem, what can I do to fix it before I even start to trail ride?

the stock sammy carb it waaaaaayyyy better than the jeep carbs (Carter AFB I think)at handling steep angles. I run pretty hard stuff and still have the carb. I will get FI when I swap engines but the carb works. I have learned to keep the RPMs up a bit on the steep drops, like the water fall on Jackhammer. that is where it will die as you clutch to stop and ease over. Other than that you will be fine. your good judgment will usually stop you before the carb unless you have wheeled enough to have learned how to ignore good judgment
Thanks

Ive never stalled out on any hill or decline with a stock carb.... never.... I now have a weber carb on which stall out, but I mounted it backwards so it will only stall on downhills...
You will be fine with a stock one unless float is bad or something...

Thanks for the info. That gives me a little more peace of mind. It will be a while before I actually get the Samurai on a trail....but I thought if it were a problem, better to prepair before I go out to trail ride.
I saw a Jeep cut out going up a hill and he ended up loosing his bearings and rolled back down the hill and ended up ripping his rear axle off the frame. BAD BAD BAD....
Be he was ok..
I just don't want to end up in that situation.

Stock, you'll have no problems with stock carb. The stock carb is actually GREAT (it actually riches and leans out your fuel 28 times a second like FI) - it's just got small CFM
I've NEVER had a problem stock, and I've done some pretty steep stuff.

I filpped my Sammi over the weekend. Laying on it's side with it's bottom pointing up a steep hill, the engine was still running.
