the back end of a 1st gen 4 door looks really awesome but the nose is a but stubby. on a 2nd gen the front end and a few other things on a 2nd gen are pretty cool looking

thats another reason i like my sport, has a bit bigger and longer hood.

that's cool, I had no idea they were like that. V6 and a better looking body

no v6, just the 1.8L
i like it hough, i looked at some newer styled ones. just decided i liked the older style better myself. once it gets some lift and bigger meats it will be perfect.

I prefer the early 2-door trackicks convertible, early Sport model 4-door, and the 99+ 4-dr vitara/grand vitara/and tracker with zr-2 package, I think the 99+ 2-doors look funny too ;)

well... if you want to get all nitty-gritty

I like the pre-95 2 doors and the 95-98 4 doors

and I really dont like the 99+ (any doors)  ((to own that is))
so much that Id think about getting a jeep before a 99+
weird......

imho of course

well, the longer hood seems nice though. I heard the frame is wider and stuff on a sport model. what did they gain with the differences? must be something. stability? strength? but from the sounds of it I'd seek a sport model if I were to look for a 1st gen. I have made up my mind though, don't remember if I said it or not but I like the 2nd gen 4 doors the best. if it were an election in my mind the 2nd gen 4 door would have won over the 1st gen 4 door by 1 vote. 3rd place is the 1st gen 2 door.. that's just me though

1st gen - Wide body / Sport.
2nd gen - five door any day.

I guess that is why I own both ;D

I think Suzuki built the wider chassis version so that they could comfortably fit the V6 in. Most parts are very similar to the 1600's though.

In the US the Sports never got a V6, only a 1.8L I4.  Suzuki didn't put V6's in any of their 4x4's sold here in the States until the new models came out in 1999.  The rest of the world got the 2.0L V6 in question sometime in the...mid-90's? ???

Dont be sad  :'(
At least you get the flash options. Cruise control etc.
Our vehicles tend to be a little down spec on average  :-\

Not specifically Suzuki but it's been my experience that you guys get better offroad and work worth options and, in some cases, vehicles.  We haven't seen a Nissan Patrol since the late '60's and electronically disconnecting swaybars, electric lockers, and some of the other goodies available since the 80's are still a relatively recent addition to our OEM's line ups.

Heck, we've never even gotten a LSD in the rear of a Suzuki here.

I think ajm has some good points. here in the states it seems like it's all about comfortable boring stuff more and more. look what they call a grand vitara these days. I don't call it a grand vitara, I call it an imposter.

I wish we had jimnys and patrols here

I like the early 2 doors the best, TinTop or SofTop. Have one of each.

What about a hardtop With a 2 piece back door?
That would be nice ;D

instead of the One piece.
I personnelly like the Boxie type (pre 99)
But options would be nice.
