98 SPORT 26 sp front axle
« on: February 02, 2005, 11:14:13 AM »
I scored a 1998 4dr sport front axle assy today.

Locking hubs, cv's, inner axle, and 5.13:1 3rd....

Anyone know a reason why the CV's or other pieces would not work on my 1994 4dr.  THe housing and related pieces looked identical to my 22 spline stuff.

I know that the sport has a different lower control arm, suspension, and a few other things...

I'd be wrenching now but gotta work the next 10 days.

Got the cool Suzuki Sport front clip too...

Hmmm there is one of those in a wrecking yard near my house... Do you know if the stuff is 26 spline? This may be a great donner for the 26 spline passenger side. You could remove the inner CV cup and swap onto a 22 spline...

OK, I'm only guessing here from my experience with the Escudo and G/V C/Vs but here are my thoughts.

I'd say if you swap the 26 spline carrier and axle in that the R/H inner C/V  will be the only problem. For some reason the C/V has a finer spline on the axle end and won't fit back onto the old axle. However if the Sport axle is the same length it will be an easy swap over.

Post your findings once you've done it and if you can grab some axle measurements for future reference  too  ;)

CV Axles and the rest of the parts are stll in the back of my friends Mini Van...

Called Hawk Strictly Suzuki today and while I had him on the phone asked about the 26 spline Sport axle.  He stated that he thought it was a one off, not a direct swap, but he was also not 100% sure.

I should get my parts home tomorrow, Work schedule has been holding me up.
