« on: July 23, 2006, 08:43:29 PM »
Hi everyone.Im new to this site.Im from the caribbean island of Trinidad and im the owner of a Suzuki Samurai JX 1989 model.
Here's a pic:

It's a hardtop with panoramic roof.
Stock 1.3L engine with a weber and K&N filter
5fwd Tranny with tach dash.
3" full exhaust
Stock transfer case
NGK iridium plugs with ractive plug wires
15" american racing racing rims
30" Toyo Tires

ICE: Pioneer DEH 3700 MP3
4 Boston Acoustics 6x9's custom mounted into side pannels at back.

This is my everyday driver. Its kinda a street machine, and great for the weekend offroading.Nothing compares to a sami in 4L!

I need some help however.I would like to know what is the recommended engine oil, transmission oil and transfer case oil for these machines. It is in need of change, and ill like to do it the way of the book. Thanks in advance. 8) ;D

BTW. im 19 so im now learning,be easy on me plz :D

Your local Suzuki Dealer has the best answer for you.

I say this because you live in a tropical environment where conditions are different from most of the rest of us.

Different viscosities of lubricants may better suit your truck.

Can't be materially different from what is recommended for hot climates in the US. For engine oil I am sure 10w30 mobil 1 would be more than sufficient.

I like a quart of lucas in with the oil.  Just sub a quart of it for 1 of the quarts of oil.  The same lucas is good in tranny, and transfer case (assuming it's a stick)  also I don't trust the fram oil filters but I do like the bosch. My question is about that panoramic roof. Is that an add on fiberglass kit or a variation of the steel one, with more head room? It's cool looking! Adam

hi,  in my '91 tracker i changed all the diffs, tranny (5 speed), transfer case fluids to Amsoil.  in the old motor(about 120k on it) i'm using semi-synthetic oil.  Quaker State is my pick with 10W40 for summer and 5W30 for winter.
very nice looking Sammi!

thanx.i found out from the dealer, they recommend 90body oil for the tranny n tcase.not sure which oil ill use yet, probably kendall high performance oil or so (10W40).
daddyizzle,we dont get the bosch here :(,and i relaly dont like fram.the best here is K&N or purolator,i usually go with purolator.and the roof is how a few of the sammis came here.there are probably about 50 more like these remaining here, most of them are rotted down or crashed.
RGERBER i will post pics of the music install,it took some cutting an fabrication with MDF and about a day to make it fit.
