Hey, I'm looking for some pics of rear diff balljoint spacers.  I don't have a access to a welder and im wondering what can be made?  If you used a welder, post them anyway please.

Here's the one I built, 3/8" plate top and bottom and 2" .250 wall square tube inbetween

the guy i got my coil spring spacers off of also made a 2" spacer for me out of the same material as the spring spacers, uhma or whatever it is   i had to enlarge the bolt holes slightly but other than that it works beautifully

I had a solid block spacer at first but the bolts are long and can't take the strain, resulting in them failing and the spacer falling out on articulation; a real get me home nightmare!

I good guy in my club then made me a  2" 3 piece one as above, with the 4 original bolts 9 1 is shorther thatn the othr 3) and 4 new short ones - much better, and a worthwhile modification

My impression is that you will eventually bend the #$%# out of that pivot joint especially if you do anything nastier than simple #1 or #2 trails.   Now guys like me who are contemplating a Digger lift on my 4-door DD may put off installing one for a while...

Its a good mod to do. IIRC shocks up to 2" longer than stock will be OK but longer than that and the ball joint will bind. There is a strong possibility that a binding ball joint will fail and that can do a lot of damage as well as leaving you stranded on the trail. Also it gives a better angle on the upper arm which should reduce axle tramp. Interestingly, when I fitted the rear parts from my Calmini kit, both the lower control arms and the upper wishbone bolted directly on without having to move the axle at all. The Calmini upper arm has the rose joint but the only other difference is the distance from the arm to the mount on the diff, its like having a built in spacer.

get ahold of safarikick on this board, he has a nice spacer. btw, it also helped out his braking on his 97, spring from arm to proportioning valve for rear brakes was at too much of an angle.
