Hello I was thinking of purchasing a 91 4 dr. sidekick. It has 77,000 miles, automatic, it runs but overheats. It has a toyota axle up front, it;s spring over axle frnont and rear, sitting on leafs. It has missing link shackles all around, yukon gears in the diffs, welded rear, front and rear bumpers with hitch in rear, rock sliders, roof rack, 32's all around and full size spare. The front driveline angle is horrible. The rear isn't as bad. It has a total of 12 inches of lift. I don;t think it has any steering corrections either.
 Just want to know what you guys think, and how much it's worth. Thanks

I'd budget for a new engine, the overheating could be something simple but it could also be a cracked block. Then consider much time and money it will take to get it sorted.

Thanks for the input. How hard would it be to lower the truck about 4 inches? The truck will fit 35's easily, but it sits on 32's. It has a spoa on all four corners; the rear has blocks under the leafs, so If I took those it it will lower, the front has sammy springs with no blocks, so I don't know how to lower the front. I just want to fit the 32's.
   The truck LOOKS really good, but there are some iffy things about it though. The stearing is kept the same, no drop brackets or anything, i;m thinking it has bump steer. the guy was asking 3300. He traded it in at a dealership and got 1700 for it. I'm trying to get him to bavk out of the deal cause he has 72 hours and offer 2200 for it or a trade for my 94 sidekick 2 dr. How much lift does heahter and Nates sas have, 12 in seems way too much. It;s super flexy too. I was rocking pretty good just by pushing it.

It actually looks very similar to Heather and Nates truck. Maby they replicated it. One thing I remembered is that half the radiator and fan is below the hood, as if it had a body lift. The strange thing is that there is no body lift? Also the guy said it probally should have the c.v. driveshafts putt in. Overall it looks like an awesome truck; but there is always improvements to be made, right! SO how could I lower it about 4 inches? It has 12 inches of lift, too much! The 32's on it would be just fine for me. Also if I put in transfer case gears will that help the truck move those tires, or does that only help the front when in 4 wheel drive? Let me make sure I asked that right, If I put in t-case gears will it lower the gearing like driving on the street? thanks

Are the lower spring mounts still on the axles??  Maybe you could just spring it under??? That would be about 4 inches, wouldn't it? or is that more like 6"??

I'm not sure if the lower leaf mounts are still on the axles, i would imagine they would be. spring under would be safer too wouldn't it. My whole reason for getting this is that my 2 dr sidekick is too small, I want to take the familly and friends camping and all the good stuff, and I like the zuks. I'm not sure how much the spua would lower it, but that is definitely an option. I'm not a suspension expert so hopefully somebody can chime in.

No replication on our part to any other SAS kick. Just FYI.

From what we could tell, we couldn't go spring under because the differential would hit the oil pan on the engine. Sure, you can limit this some with bump stops, but the suspension travel would be very limited. It wasn't worth it in our opinion.

For a height comparison, we're on 315x75x16's (35's) and we're about 27-28 inches at the frame I believe. So a stock Sidekick is what, 8 inches at the frame?

It's a bit high, but with the sway bars, it gets around on the street just fine.

As for the transfer case, does yours have dual cases? Or is it still running the stock sidekick case? Or, are they using a 2wd sidekick tranny mated to a samurai case?

Aftermarket Sidekick tcase gears do not reduce high range. Samurai case gears will.

I was wondering if the transfer gears will affect the overall gearing driving down the road in two wheel drive? Or does it only gear down the front end.
 It will also fit 35's but sits on 32's.
The guy said with the 35's he could barely pull 45 on the freeway up hills, even with both diffs geared down.
 I haven;t bought it yet. The guy was asking 3300 for it. He ended up trading it in for a car and only got 1700 for it. The car dealership then wholesaled it to a anoother dealership which bought it for 2000. I called them and they said they were going to fix the over heating problem and sell it for around 3900. No. Stock Sidekick aftermarket transfercase gears do not lower high range. High Range means - High range. 2HI and 4HI. You'd probably have to get differential gears for the axles, unless you decided to go with some dual transfercase setup (read OTT Kicker 2 or 3) or put a Samurai case behind a 2WD Sidekick tranny. This will take a little fabrication skill, for crossmembers and mounts, etc.

Does it only have a toyota axle in the front? Does this mean it's still using the stock rear axle? (YUK)

I don't have any picyures of the truck. But I could take some and post them. I didn't pay much attention to the rear axle but I think it's stock. He put leafs in the rear; don't know why, it already has a 4 link. THe rear is also welded. He said it has the lowest yukon ring and pinion available and with the 35's he could only pull 45 up hills on the freeway.

the only way transfer case gears would lower the high range ratio in a sidekick with the stock t-case would be if it was a divorced transfer case (like sammys) with a 2 wheel drive tranny.
