when i say the intake i mean the part coming off the throttle body going to the airbox, and the tester measures volts, battery= 12, when charging= 14 and so on, if you put it between positive post and cable it will measure draw but the tester was also arcing on the thermostat housing as well so i think its the whole block, and the spacer is conductive but im not sure

id have to go with a bad ground man,, check there... like they say a bad ground will get you every time...good luck i hate electical work...lol

I think I'm with you now it just the terminology. Voltage = drop, Current = draw. That intake tube is bolted hard to the engine so it should be at the same potential as the block. Most modern electronics should be protected against reverse battery connection, I know that the ECU is pretty well protected so I doubt if you will have a problem there.

just to let you know, dropped in a new alternator and it ran like a charm untill the clutch cable came off that clip by the air box and melted on the heatsheild  :'(

Thats good that your sorted it. My clutch cable came unclipped once, went into the fan. Made a terrible noise but no real damage done.
