If you keep a sammie light you don't really need one, I have a warn 6k on mine and have never used it, use a block and it is a 12k, it's nice and light and does not bother the radiator as far as cooling goes and as far as current drain goes it draws way less than a 9k does, just get a yellow top battery and go.

Thanks, my sammy was up to the windows in mud the other day...i dont have the pictures yet but ill get em... let me explain.  They drained a lake right outside of town and for the most part it is dried out.  But the weeds have completely filled where the lake was.  We wheeled in the lake for probably 2 hours without a problem then all of a sudden under we went, it was kinda freeky sinking that fast I thought my sammy was done for.  I had 3 big trucks get stuck trying to pull me out.  Not to mention the tow truck that got stuck after he got me out.  Anyways I figured with the $200 tow bill its probably time to just fork over the money and get a winch...Also is there a way to mount a winch without an aftermarket bumper and without removing the stock bumper? Thanks

I picked up a set of bushings from trail tough that weld inside the front of the frame x4 you will need these, I cut down a push bar style from a chevy s-10 made by warn, cut the tray about 1.5" and the head light guards about 2'' it fits great and the whole guard and winch weight in at 115 lbs, the stock bumper would have to go or cut the center section of it out and weld to the push bar.

I was looking at the Warn M8000 and M6000.
What about the 9.0Rc or 9.5xp winches?  Is that over kill?

I have a Superwinch 9000 on mine and love it.  It's great when you need to winch a full size up a hill or pull a 1-ton with flat tires onto a trailer.  :)  The 9.5xp is a great winch, but if you only plan on using it once or twice a year, it's not going to be much better then the MileMarker 8000 electric.

If your looking for a light duty winch to pull you out of a small hole now and then, I think size and weight is going to be your largest issue.

I have the warn m6000 on mine works great for helping others. Zuks dont get stuck. The pulling power is there, but the poor little truck doesnt weigh enough to stay put. Allways seem to need a anchor.
