New clutch
« on: September 03, 2006, 12:53:42 PM »
I have a 92 4dr 1.6L 16v Sidekick and am going to replace the clutch.  I do mostly Mountain trails and some rocky trails and a bit of desert.

What are the aftermarket options opinions for a new clutch or should I stick with an OEM?

Thanks for any advice you can give me

What is better about a Centerforce clutch? Where is the best place to buy them online?

Well

I have always read good things about Centerforce and the Clutch systems they produce. I know they outsell most other aftermarket companies and they specialize in drivetrain. You'll find that the companys with a strong sales market can offer you the best price!

Most bigbox aftermarket retail outlets can order them for you.

Cheers

I couldn't find a Centerforce Application for an 88 Samurai at Autopartswarehouse.com. They did have Exedy, Sachs and an  OEM quality substitute.

or just go to autozone and order a disc for $17.00  with exchange and call it a day, we replace pressure plates only every 5 clutches and we get atleast a year of hard core four wheeling out of them.

Hey Pat, what do you guys use in your Kicks??  Stock 'zone discs??  the Turtle is about due.. it still has it's FACTORY clutch in it.. and although it doesn't slip yet (miracle) I know it is getting worn, as the adjustment is about gone.

I was thinking on a Centerforce, but they ARE pricey...

hey dog I have not done a clutch in a track/kick yet but I would assume they are also available from the zone, I have a good friend who has owned his samurai for over 13 years and it has been his daily driver and he is the one who told me about the autozone clutches, I was one of the unexperienced ones paying over $100 a pop for clutches for my offroad rigs when $17 is all I really needed to spend. give me a call and see and now that I am thinking about it I think for some reason that you have to order 5 at a time but I will check on that.

Great - I just ordered the Centerforce I yesterday.  I'm sure it will be great but if I could have gotten away with $17 bucks that would have been awesome

I went with the Centerforce I  Got it for $258 shipped from 4wheel parts - I used Autopartswarehouse.com as my price match.  I would have ordered from them but they said they couldn't get it to me for 5 to 7 days and 4wheel parts was able to ship and said 3 to 5 days.  The truck is waiting only for the clutch so?

I use the sidekick as a daily driver alternating every 2 weeks with my other truck
