water sloshing around inside body panels???
« on: September 06, 2006, 07:18:29 PM »
wtf???  i have somehow taken on water in the body of my tracker.  i can hear it sloshing around behind my seat!  seems to be in the rear panel behind my seat around the wheel well.  i have not recently been in any water deeper than the rocker panels, as in dry doors.  i did leave the back door open when it was raining for a couple hrs but the water was barely going in, it seemed.. the carpet was barely damp.  it is very slowly leaking into the floor, i've removed the 2 drain plugs near the drivers seat and also the plugs inside the door on the upper part of the rocker panel, the drain plug just under the rear of the body between the rear door and the wheel well.  when i drive it up onto a 45 degree incline it doesn't come out except for a slight drip which stop till i move it around the park on the incline again, no matter which direction i park.

i'm lost on this one, any suggestions would be great!

Are you SURE you aren't hearing gas sloshing in the tank? Go top it off and see if the sound goes away.

If the water is in the rear quarter, pull off the  interior panel and look and see.....

I highly doubt you will have water in there though... but maybe..

ya, pretty sure.  i thought the same when i heard it at 1st, then realized that water was pooling into the floor from nowhere..  it's like i have a cooler full of melted ice behind my seat, the water just sloshing around in there..  gonna try some compressed air tonight through all the open holes i can find in there.  i know it's strange so we'll see what i find.  it's under warranty but i'm sure the dealer will assume i sunk it if i bring it in there..

I had a similar problem with water in the drivers door. If you have a look underneath you should see some drain 'holes' along the seam where the panels join, they can get blocked.

there's a pinch in the body under the rocker in front of the wheel well where the water was ever so slowly sometime dripping out, and i mean really slowly.  took the compressed at around 80-90psi, tried all the holes then tried getting any dirt outta the little pinch area, dirt and shit seemed to loosen up then sploosh!  more than a litre of water just poured out.  let it all come out, sprayed the air again nothing else, moved it around and no more sloshing that i could hear!!!  now i just have to figure out if water can get in the other side from under neath through the hole or not, if it's sealed or not and if i need to fix this side.  i think it should be up to the dealer if the passenger side is sealed...  now to fix the heater and rear window zipper, warranty, now i can bring it in without hassles....
