« on: September 07, 2006, 12:49:59 AM »
Winter is alomost upon us again and I have yet to obtain a hard top for my tracker. Which ones are good(I have heard that some are better than others)
Runnin' it stock with 225/75R15s and an unmodified 8valve TBI motor (I need a doug thoroley header and a cam) (more power) (1.6 liters of madness) (vroom + sewing machine sounds)

With the lack of availability for used, I'd say whatever you can get your hands on for a good price ;)  I've had 2 of these ones, I find them squeaky, but some thin foam tape on the inside between the plastic edge and the metal should stop it this winter.

i just sold a tracker with a sunseeker hardtop on it that was factory installed from the dealer when purchased new and I would have to say that out of 5 different hardtops that I have had this one by far was the best fitting and the easiest to remove, no brackets needed it mounted right to factory mounts. check it out http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1993-GEO-TRACKER-SUZUKI-SIDEKICK_W0QQitemZ280021105955QQihZ018QQcategoryZ6242QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

good luck finding one.

That waz a good looking hardtop 89tintop
I found mine by searching craigs list and called the guy up.
He asked If I was interested in the hardtop or softtop.
I was surprised. I didn't know he was selling a hardtop.
I don't know the brand but so far it's perty tight, no wind noise.

I believe that one is the stock one that came on trackers and sidekicks from the factory. I almost got one from someone for $300, but when I went to go get it, they said that they were selling it with the tracker >:(. Oh well, I should just keep looking :)

I don't think that's the full case, according to the PO of my truck, the hardtop that's on it is(see the pic above) the one that's been there sinnce new. I don't think Suzuki actually manufactured a hardtop(or soft top, cause mine is a besttop), but relied on besttop and other manufacturers to supply them with tops, hard and soft.

I too got a good deal on my first hard top, a friend of a friend give a rear section to me, allthough I had to shovel snow and chip away ice to get at it, it was well worth it. A few months later, I found a front section on a truck at a salvage yard for $40, and I grabbed the rear brackets that were left there.  I sold it separatly when I sold my white tracker, and got $260 for it.

i have gotten from $400 to $750 for the 4 I have sold on the bay in the last year. they are not cheap but looking at bone yards might be your best bet if you dont want to spend your life savings on one.

The factory [ OEM ] unit is hard to beat. I remember discussing how great the Stock Sidekick Convertable Hardtop is in another thread. I ran a search but couldn't find anything about it!

Anway Calmini's HT is most likely the best for aftermarket but they're pricey and I don't think a person would come across many used. I say find a Stock one.

If you look around at all other 4X4 SUV Convertables and comapare them with Suzuki's design they don't compare. Jeep is the next best!

Got mine from rally tops also.  It's the black '99 on the tesimonial page.  Little bit of info Jerry at Rally Tops shared w/ me.  He's Calmini's Sami hardtop supplier.
