yj springs for a sammy ?
« on: January 22, 2005, 01:58:03 AM »
I would like some opinions for the suspension on a Sammy . I want to keep it as low as possible but desperately want a softer ride . the rocky road kit looks pretty good . I am going to run 31-33 inch tire . body cutting is no problem . let me know what you guys think . ???

YJ's SPOA or SPUA is a vast improvement over stock. probably the softest avalable (other than a LA coily). I run YJ's SPOA and the ride is super plush, so plush that I needed some very stiff shocks just to damp the spring sufficiently. You mention low, keep them SPUA and you'll be very happy. For a cheaper setup, run rear springs up front and get cj front springs and mount them in the rear, lots of guys are happy with this setup, too.

http://www.geocities.com/redidbull1/wheelwells.html Heres a link to an article for hogging the wheelwells, with this and rears up front or yj's spua, 33's would be no problem.

When I do my yj spoa (on 87 sami), I plan on using tt's kit. Saw it in action a few times, they work and ride great!

YJs ride awesome.
We added a leaf in the front to stiffen it up for the 1.6l and aftermarket bumper.

We added a leaf in the rear to stiffen it up for the HUGE, swingarm bumper we have.  (got 33s)
