Hey folks,

I was wondering what you guys thought of the Mile Marker winches.  I was thinking of getting the 6,000 lbs. winch.  It is a lot cheaper than the warn, so I'm wondering if I should just pony up the money for the warn winch or go with the Mile Marker.

If your going to go with the Mile Marker, I would go ahead and get the 8000lb.  It's only 12 pounds more and 5" wider.  And they seem to cost about the same and the 8000 is a little bit faster with a load on it.

I had the Mile Marker 8000 on my Jeep when it first came out, and it worked fine.  Some people have had problems with the plastic switch breaking off, but it seems to be pretty rare.  It is not a fast winch though, and if I was planning on using it a lot I would probably go with a Warn just for the extra speed.

On a side note, dual batteries work great for winching.  That way you don't need a heavy duty altenator to keep the winching up.

Right, it's the same winch, made by the same folks in China, they aren't great, but I have heard that they hold up fine, and do a fine job on these little trucks

Silver's been running a milemarker 3000 and the Goblin runs a 6000 milemarker and both work fine and neither has given me any trouble. The 6000 has pulled the goblin through some pretty deep sticky mud, too and it worked great without any overheating...

i run the harbor frieght 8000, which is the same as the milemarker 8000 and its  more than enough for a sammy or trak

I currently have 2 trail rigs; one with a Warn M8000, and the other with a milemarker SE9500.  No doubt I like the Warn better; it's much quieter (the milemarker makes all sorts of racket under any kind of load), faster (probably twice as fast as the MM), and has an overall better fit and finish.  With that being said, for a winch that will be used just occasionally, the Milemarker isn't a bad deal.  It still pulls you out of a ditch or through a muckhole just like the warn does (even though it does it slower, louder, and without as much style).  And, you can't argue with the price difference.  So....if you have the $$, go for the Warn.  It is a better machine.  If you don't, go for the Milearker.  It will work fine.

I'm running a powermaster 140A GM alternator, and dual exide orbitals.  It works great.  Runs everything I could ever want, no problems. 

Anyone running a single battary hook-up?  It would be interesting to see how well it works.  Thanks

Red top optima. works good.
Haven't done anything major with it tho.
