more power

I know this has been talked about tones on this forum but I'm very curious. I keep seeing these power mods that plug into the computer. Do any of them work..at all or is this just a  big scam. THey are all over ebay. some are obviously a joke. I'm sure I would have herd about it if you really could get 20 horspower from a 5.00$ preformance chip. But other say 8 to 10 horspower. Has anyone tried one?

The 12 volt hair dryer works better, plus on a cold day you can pre heat and dry your hair while defrosting your windows at the same time. ;D

Thanks for the info. I strongly recomend the under drive pully, mid range cam and 2.25 muffler. they all did a noticable difference for me and my 1.6 16valve 4door.

Mid range cam? The only cam I know about for a 16v 1.6 is the Hawk and I was told that it was more of a bottom end cam and that they hadn't had good success in developing a mid range cam. What is yours and how does its power delivery differ from stock through the rev range and what sort of increase have you seen?

No they don't.

Rotational Dynamics made those pulleys, and they've quit making them, so it's hard to say how long they'll last.  (By the way, Rotational Dynamics is just one guy.)

will the 2.25 exhaust reduce the low end torque. My kick already gets is torque pretty high, I dont feel like revving even higher.

I was a little concerned about losing any bottom end when opening up the exhaust on my 16v 1.6 4dr. I've just fitted a Tri-Y header and 2" cat back with a a single hi-flow muffler. It's all good. No major gains but it does pull a little harder and has slightly better throttle response. No increase in noise but there is a different, slightly throatier note in the 2-3000rpm range.

When you take the stock intake components out of the fender (one of which is called the "boom bottle"), and install a snorkel, you'll notice the "throatiness" peaks around 3300 rpm on the 1.6/16.

When I fitted my snorkel I didn't notice any real change in noise and no difference if the window is up.

Bob probably notices it more  as he sits on the WRONG side of the trucklet while driving  ;D
